Working
in a Family Business: a Non-family Member Perspective - Monday
May 31, 2010
Working within a family business environment presents its own
challenges for the non-family employee. On May 31, 2010 guest
speaker, Andy Hunt made a presentation to the largest group ever
to attend a KFBG event. Andy grew up in Peterborough and is now
President and COO of one of the largest Canadian family-owned
businesses, Day & Ross General Freight, part of the McCain
family business. Visiting from Hartland New Brunswick, Andy
covered the pros and cons of being a non-family member working
in a family business, as well as how Day & Ross recovered
from the economic downturn and are thriving today.

Introducing The Kawartha Family
Business Group
Kawartha
Family Business Group (KFBG) is a growing community of local
Family Businesses and Advisors who are working together to
better understand how family businesses grow and connect.
KFBG
provides the opportunity for members and advisors to discuss and
share experiences that are unique to a family business. We
address the challenges and opportunities particular to family
businesses and demonstrate the value of connecting with other
family business peers and professional advisors to meet both
business and personal goals.
One
of the unique features of a KFBG membership is that it extends
to all family members - whether it's two
or twenty family members, KFBG memberships ensure all family
members can take part. KFBG recognizes the value of meeting like
minded business peers and encourages members to mingle and make
connections at each event. more...
